Measuring Change
Ideally, the oral cavity is constantly bathed in saliva. Like a river, saliva ebbs and flows inside the mouth. Change happens– sometimes producing a rush of saliva and sometimes a gradual and undetectable decrease. In any case, there is now a reliable saliva indicator to monitor patients or follow subjects.
